How to pick a college

Hey bloggers! For many of us, college is right around the corner. I'm sure for all of you, picking your college was very difficult. Picking the college you plan on attending is a huge decision to make in your life, and also may be one of the hardest decisions. There are so many factors that go into choosing the college you plan on attending. Here are some huge tips to help you guys pick your college.

1. Cost- College is EXPENSIVE. However, colleges do offer scholarships to help pay for your tuition. Applying for scholarships may seem annoying, but they can go a long way in having less debt once graduating. Most in-state colleges are cheaper than out of state ones. If cost is a concern, look into scholarships and your in-state colleges to compare the costs.

2. Programs- Many colleges offer tons of programs, but if the college you are looking into doesn't offer a program of your interest, then you shouldn't bother. If you have a good idea of what you want to pursue as your career, then make sure your college offers a program within the realms of it.

3. Campus- Many people fall in love with the campus they are in. Living in a campus that attracts you will make your college experience much better. Make sure to go on visits to the colleges you plan on applying for to make sure you like the campus.

4. Location- Do you want to be close to your home, or as far as you could possibly be? That's a big question you have to ask yourself. If you get very homesick, then choosing a college close to home would be a good idea. Many people have wanted to go as far as possible, and have either loved it, or been very homesick and transferred back to a closer college.

Now that I have given you four HUGE components of picking your college, good luck picking your college! Remember, this is a huge step in your life, so picking the right college for you will go a long way. Happy hunting!

Close Reading

Close Reading- Close reading is an interaction that involves observation and interpretation between the reader and a text.
Close reading is important when you need a deeper understanding of the text. It helps when you don't really understand the text. Close reading helps with it. When close reading, be sure to make connections from your life to the text and look up unknown words. An example of annotating is summarizing major sections and looking up unknown words. One of the close reading strategies I personally enjoy is the REAP strategy.
R—Read the text on your own. (Jot down the title and author)
E—Encode the text by summarizing what you read using your own words.
A—Annotate the text by writing down one or two statements that explain some of the article’s main ideas; include significant facts and/or quotes.
P—Ponder what you read. What is most interesting to you and why? What connection to your purpose does the information provide?
In much simpler terms, here is what I comprehend from this.
R- Read the text by yourself, don't worry about anything else besides reading the text.
E- Dive deeper into the text. Summarize major parts of the texts in your own words.
A- Annotate.Write 1-2 sentences about the main parts of the text. Highlight interesting phrases and explain. Define unknown words.
P- Ponder. Ask yourself questions about the text. Make connections from the text to other texts or yourself.

Read THIS blog post by a teacher. I mean actually read it. Take it in. Think about it. And then, write about it. What do you think about it? What is the teacher trying to say? In your own words explain what "the main event" is.

This is a blog post written by a teacher that is telling us about life and school. The teacher is trying to say that school isn't just about academics, but it is making us ready for our future life and helping us deal with challenges. The main event is the process of dealing with things and making them better.

3 day weekend... how was it? Give me a good story or something funny that happened this weekend. Go.

I had a pretty good weekend. I hung out with my friends all weekend and had a good time. I helped my friend make a music video for broadcast and I must say it is amazing. It will most likely be showed at lunch. It was pretty fun making the music video. I hope they get a good grade.

My resume website is very good as of now with all the content on it. I need to fix the margins and some more on the website to make it look more professional. I used the brain dump a lot more than I believed. I wish my computer would work so I didn't have to spend so much time loading all my documents onto other computers.I learned a lot of new things about what I could do to my website to make it look more professional. I didn't really like using the Photoshop because I couldn't go back to edit my pictures.
